Racks that feel every impact.
Flexible-electronics sensors on pallet-rack uprights. They measure elastic and plastic deformation in real time after every impact or overload, and alert you when the damage is permanent.

- Rack uprights
- What
- Elastic and plastic deformation
- When
- In real time
Fig. 1The sensor: a flexible-electronics strip whose signal changes as the upright deforms. Move the cursor closer or tap to deform it.
Elastic or plastic: the difference that matters.
A flexible-electronics sensor bonded to the upright records its deformation continuously. If the upright springs back after a knock, the deformation was elastic. If it stays displaced, it's plastic: permanent damage and an immediate alert.
At rest
Working load, stable signal.
Elastic deformation
Light knock: the upright flexes and springs back. It's logged.
Plastic deformation
Heavy impact or overload: a residual deformation remains. An alert goes out.
From impact to decision.
A damaged upright puts at risk the people working around it and the stock it carries. XRack detects the damage as it happens and turns it into information you can act on.
- Safety
Increases safety in your warehouse.
Every impact is detected the moment it happens, even when nobody is looking.
- Insurance
Reduces your insurance premium.
Automatic, traceable records of every incident, ready for audit.
- Stock
Optimises your stock of uprights.
You know the condition of every upright and which ones need replacing.
- Collapse
Reduces the risk of collapse.
It only alerts when the deformation is real, on the upright affected.
- Operations
Minimises lost revenue.
You act where and when it's needed, without unnecessary stoppages.
- Warehouses
Centralised safety management across multiple warehouses.
All your sites, shifts and seasons on one platform.
58 sensors and a gateway installed in a single day by two people.
- Flexible electronics
- A thin sensing strip with detection bands that is easy to fit on the inner face of the upright.
- Programmable thresholds
- It quantifies deformation and only alerts when it's real: no false alarms from vibration or minor knocks.
- Wireless
- Each device sends its data over LoRaWAN to a gateway that uploads it to the cloud.
- Scalable
- From the first aisle to your whole warehouse network, on the same platform.
From material to measurement, in-house.
We design the flexible sensor, the read-out electronics, the communications and the software. Each stage is tuned to what needs measuring.
- 1
Material
Inks and substrates for flexible electronics, designed for steel uprights.
- 2
Printing
Electrodes and detection bands on a thin, flexible carrier.
- 3
Detection
Bands that record the upright's deformation after an impact or overload.
- 4
Device
Encapsulation, battery, control electronics and LoRa radio.

Signal and software
Gateway, cloud and platform: from the signal to an alert on the upright affected.
Deformation is only the beginning.
The same flexible electronics can also measure pressure, temperature and humidity.
Flexible strips bonded to or embedded in the structure record micro-strain and how it evolves over time.
Typical usesStructural monitoring · fatigue · composites
